Kyle Devlin Announces Candidacy for Pennsylvania House District 111

Quality Assurance Engineer and Father Challenges Unopposed Incumbent, Pledges to Fight Corporate Influence in Politics

SUSQUEHANNA, PA – Kyle Devlin, a quality assurance engineer and father of two, today announced his candidacy for Pennsylvania State House of Representatives in District 111, offering voters their first competitive choice in four election cycles.

The seat is currently held by Rep. Jonathan Fritz (R-Susquehanna), who has run unopposed in three of the last four elections.

Devlin's campaign centers on a single message: "Pennsylvanians over Profits." He has pledged to refuse all corporate PAC contributions.

"When corporations can write unlimited checks to candidates, those candidates end up representing corporate interests instead of their constituents," Devlin said. "Pennsylvania has some of the weakest campaign finance laws in the country, even as families face some of the steepest increases in grocery prices. I'm running because hard-working families in District 111 deserve a representative who answers to them, not corporate donors."

Devlin's platform is shaped by his lived experience as a working parent in Pennsylvania:

Healthcare Access: When Devlin's son was born, the family spent considerable time in the NICU and at Children's Hospital of Philadelphia. They qualified for Keystone Mercy, Pennsylvania's Medicaid program, which helped them avoid crushing medical debt. "That experience saved us," Devlin said. "I'll fight to expand Medicaid eligibility and work toward a public option for all Pennsylvanians."

Special Education: Because Devlin's son receives specialized autism support, he’s seen firsthand how vital strong special education programs are. "Every child deserves the support they need to succeed. I'll fight to fully fund special education mandates statewide," he said.

Criminal Justice Reform: “My family has been directly impacted by the opioid epidemic," Devlin said. "We need to treat addiction as the health crisis it is, not a criminal justice issue."

Pennsylvania has one of the highest recidivism rates in the country—the three-year rate has hovered around 64% for 16 years, costing taxpayers $3.1 billion annually. Devlin advocates for a complete rethinking of the criminal justice system.

"The phrase 'tough on crime' goes back to Goldwater and Nixon," Devlin said. "With all this 'toughness,' if it were so effective, it wouldn't still be a slogan decades later. We need to focus on rehabilitation over punishment, with a focus on mental health, to ensure our returning citizens return successfully."

Background: Devlin is a lifelong Pennsylvanian and has worked as a quality assurance engineer since 2013. He and his family live in Susquehanna where his two teenagers attend Susquehanna Community School District.

"I'm not a career politician; I'm a working parent who sees the same struggles my neighbors face. That's why I'm running to put Pennsylvanians first."

Election Information: The Democratic primary for Pennsylvania House District 111 will be held on May 19, 2026. The general election is scheduled for November 3, 2026.

Pennsylvania House District 111 encompasses all of Susquehanna County and portions of Wayne County in northeastern Pennsylvania.
