What Do I Mean By Putting Pennsylvanians Over Profits?

It means fighting to get all Pennsylvanians health care instead of taking donations from the health insurance companies raking in record profits. It means fighting against the corporate food industry that has both led to Pennsylvania having some of the highest grocery inflation and squeezed out local farmers, instead of taking donations from them. It means fighting for those we lost to addiction and fighting to not lose anyone else, not taking donations from pharmaceutical companies and the private prison industry. It all starts with getting corporate "dark money" out of Pennsylvania and putting the focus on making our lives better, not the profits of the wealthy few who do nothing but seek to divide us further for their financial gain.

Education Funding Reform

PA ranks 42nd for state school funding. For HD-111 $12.4 million leaves our 8 school districts every year for charter schools (96% to Cyber Charters). Pennsylvanians Over Profits means more funding for our schools, not charter school profit.

Campaign Ethics Reform

Pennsylvania allows unlimited donations, hidden dark money, stock trading by legislators, and politicians becoming lobbyists after one year. It's rigged against working families. Pennsylvanians over Profits means banning corporate PAC donations, closing dark money loopholes, banning stock trading, and closing the lobbyist revolving door.

Cannabis Legalization

Five of six bordering states have legalized cannabis, and hundreds of millions in PA tax dollars cross state lines annually. Legalize adult use, expunge all possession convictions, and release those incarcerated for possession. Establish craft cannabis licenses for PA farmers and small businesses, keep profits local, not with corporations or state monopolies. Fund schools, roads, and broadband.

Medical Assistance Expansion

Healthcare employs more people in our district than any other industry. Universal coverage protects these jobs with stable funding while guaranteeing care for every resident. Reps. Scott & Powell are leading this charge and when elected, I'll join them in that fight.

Housing Availability & Affordability

Beyond raising minimum wage and building more houses, we need proven solutions. In 1991, Minnesota passed bipartisan Community Land Trust legislation, helping families own homes while keeping housing permanently affordable. After 30 years of success, it's time Pennsylvania caught up. We must support existing CLTs and create a framework for new ones, keeping housing in our communities, not Wall St.

Food System Reform

Corporate food consolidation has driven Pennsylvania grocery prices to among the highest in America while shutting local farmers out of markets. Families pay more while farmers struggle, and fresh local food disappears. Pennsylvanians over Profits means breaking corporate control, connecting Pennsylvania farms to schools and communities, and ensuring affordable, fresh food for all.

Mental Health & Addiction Reform

Pennsylvania spends over $3 billion on prisons while chronically underfunding addiction treatment, cycling people through jails instead of providing care. Our loved ones cycle through jails and homelessness in their struggles with addiction and mental health. Pennsylvanians over Profits means treatment over incarceration, expanded mental health services, and recovery over punishment and profit.
